What is the Swagbucks about?

Swagbucks is an online rewards and cash back program. It enables users to earn points (called SB) by performing a variety of online activities, including searching, shopping, taking surveys, playing games, and discovering online content, and then to redeem those points for retail gift cards, PayPal cash, or other rewards. The currency exchange in Swagbucks is 100SB = $1.00 (USD). You can get your first gift card for as little as 300SB ($3 gift card).

When you have signed up, completed your account registration and added the Swagbutton  Screen Shot 2016-05-25 at 5.09.01 PM  <to your browser, you will automatically get 60SB.

So, how can you earn from Swagbucks?

Here are some of the most popular ways you can earn.

1. Searching The Internet

You can earn SB by using Swagbucks as your default search engine instead of Google.

Their search engine is powered by Yahoo, so you should be seeing the same results you would see if you used the Yahoo search bar. The earnings per search appear to be random, so you never know exactly how many you earn for each search, but either way the best way to utilize this is to make it the default search engine in your browser. If you do this, then you won’t have to think about it at all and will be earning all day long as you search the internet.

2. Taking Surveys

This is probably the quickest way to earn a lot of Swagbucks. The estimated time to complete each survey is about 10-20 minutes and the average SB amount is 75. However, make sure you take each survey seriously and honestly, if not you might be subjected to your account being suspended.

3. Daily Polls

You can participate in daily polls everyday to earn 1 SB. Quick and simple.

4. Shopping Via Swagbucks

Earn Swagbucks for anything you want to purchase in your favourite stores, like, Amazon, Expedia, Ebay, Walmart Etc,  As you have see above Amazon pays up to 7 SB per $1 you spend. So you will earn 7% cashback on your purchase just for clicking their link before going to Amazon. For example if you make a $100 purchase at Amazon would earn 700 SB.

5. Playing Games

This is a fun way to earn SB. You can play games to earn, some games are free, some you have to purchase to earn.

6. Watching Videos

You can earn SB by watching different varieties of video you can choose from.

7. Referral

You also can earn SB by referring people to join Swagbucks. For each new person referred to Swagbucks.com, the referrer will earn 10% of the referrals earnings. That means if your friend earns 500 SB, you’ll get 50 SB. The earnings eligible for the 10% referral program include the categories along the top menu bar: Shop, Search, Watch, Play, Answer, Discover.  This includes everything found in the drop down menus such as Daily Poll, Activities, Coupons and Tasks. Every earn on a mobile app contributes too.  You will continue to earn 10% for as long as your referral is active on Swagbucks.com, with no maximum limit. Categories that do not count towards 10%: Sign-up bonus, Swag Codes, Daily Goal Bonuses, SB Visa awards; others may be added.

What are the Pros and Cons of Swagbucks?

  • Free to sign up
  • Earn rewards (Swagbucks) for things you are already doing.
  • Plenty of ways to earn Swagbucks
  • Several ways to spend your Swagbucks including gift cards at popular retailers.
  • Mobile compatible

  • Rewards with the search feature are very hit or miss.
  • Very slow to build up any usable Swagbucks.
  • Gift cards are limited to only 5 of each particular type.
  • Mobile site is very limited – only a few features are available at this time. Discounts are also very limited on the mobile site.
  • Strange searches in your history can cause you to get blocked from the site.
  • Only available in some countries: US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland

However, if you live outside one of those countries like me and still want to use Swagbucks, and you use Google Chrome as your web browser, you can add the hola plugin to change your location to one of these countries listed above.

You can download the hola plugin here, once it’s set up, it will be live on the top right corner of your browser. An example is shown below. You can just turn it one when you want to use Swagbucks outside of these locations listed above. Other than using it for Swagbucks, this is a great plugin for other sites that are restricted for some countries.

Tools and Training of Swagbucks

Most of the functions of the Swagbucks program are straightforward and easy to follow. The rewards program is explained in depth via video presentations and tutorials. There is no need to download anything for pc users. The mobile user simple downloads an app to their phone/tablet or other mobile device via their provider.

Support of Swagbucks

Members can contact customer service via email if there is a site issue or a question that needs to be addressed. Swagbuck members also have access community of fellow members via forums on the home site, on the Facebook page and on Twitter.

Finale Verdict: Swagbucks is not a scam, however I do not recommend it. Why? Because it’s not something that you want to invest a lot of time in. Swagbucks is for everyone who is already using a computer and wants to earn rewards for things they are currently doing. It’s a fun thing to do when you’re bored to earn some extra cash, but you obviously can’t make a living out of it.

Lastly, if you are currently a member of the Swagbucks community and have had a positive or negative experiences, you can leave me your comment below, I’ll be happy to talk to you! 🙂

Thanks for this review! I started using Swagbucks a few months ago and haven’t used it enough to redeem any points. Fun to do if I want to pass some time on my cell phone but it’s not paying the bills lol!

Great post….Very interesting review, new source of income. I’ve never heard before this “SwagBucks” I think I’ll give it a try for my self. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the review. I have heard of Swagbucks but have not taken the time to read up about it until reading your article…I think I will join up and give it a go. I’ll take your advice though and not spend too much time on it.

Hi Samuel, first off I must say I am very impressed with your site. I started off reading this blog on swagbucks but ended up going through your entire site. Very informative and simple to read and follow, which is heaven sent for someone like me with limited knowledge on these topics. As for swagbucks I guess it wouldnt hurt to sign up and accumulate points for doing searches and maybe the odd survey, good review, thank you.

I used swagbucks for a while but found it very hard to build up a good amount of points, I tend to use clixsense more now, but as with a lot of these sites, unless there’s referrals involved it can be tough to make it pay off

Thanks for a really in-depth review Samuel. I’ve been wondering whether something like Swagbucks was legitimate. You’ve given me a lot more info to help make an informed choice before I jump in.
Thanks again mate
